Mission:
Guided by its Founder's motivation to provide young people with equal
opportunities, the Chew Hua Seng Foundation works to help underpriviledged
youths by granting them the resources they need to succeed in school and
unlock their potential in life. Based in Singapore, the Foundation has been
established in order to serve as an effective conduit for the philanthropic work
of the Raffles Education Corporation and its founder and CEO, Chew Hua Seng.
As a global company built on education, REC believes that the surest path
to make a difference is through providing educational opportunities to
under served communities.
Our Commitments:
At the Chew Hua Seng Foundation, we believe that education is a valuable gift that we
can give to the youth. Recognizing this, the Foundation invests in education and
provides opportunities particularly to the less fortunate. The Foundation is dedicated to
filling the small needs to help the disadvantaged get on with bigger things in their lives,
reach their full potential, and become active contributors to the world economy.
A fundamental challenge facing society is that well-performing students have
traditionally received a bigger bulk of private and public sector assistance. However, the
catch is that economically disadvantaged students are not able to perform to the best of
the abilities due to the fact that their basic needs for food and shelter are not met. The
Chew Hua Seng Foundation would like to think differently; it prefers to level the playing
field for students by giving opportunities to the economically disadvantaged, and
selecting them to be beneficiaries of educational funding.
The Foundation is active in efforts to alleviate poverty in the communities where they
operate through initiatives in areas such as basic social services – health, water,
sanitation, nutrition, housing, and disaster relief to students and their families.
