Giving students a chance at education

The Chew Hua Seng Bursary was set up in 2008 to assist students with financial difficulties to continue education. The funds are contributed by Mr Chew Hua Seng, Chairman and CEO of Raffles Education Corporation Limited through the Chew Hua Seng Foundation. To date, more than 6,000 students have received bursaries through this initiative, and many have gone on to universities successfully, including a place at famous institutions such as Tsinghua University.

The Chew Hua Seng Bursary Fifth Anniversary Charity and Award Ceremony was held on 24 May 2013. Over 2,000 students, teachers and distinguished guests convened at Mingzhu Auditorium in Langfang. The Langfang Municipal Political Consultative Committee, which was set up to govern the funds, presented a master piece of Chinese calligraphy to recognise Mr Chew’s contribution towards education in China.

Project ThisBento’

‘Project ThisBento’ is a community service project by a group of students and young adults from Bukit Timah Community Club.

Staff and students from Raffles Education Corporation Limited and Raffles Design Institute participated in this community service project as part of the Group’s corporate social responsibility efforts. Stationery items were collected for the students in Bago city, the Philippines, and funds were raised to help refurbish the classrooms and reading corner of the school. It was indeed a heartwarming gesture from the staff, students and lecturers.
